My name is Dane Golden of VidAction. Here’s just a little about me.
I’ve been helping startups and small businesses with YouTube for a while now, both growing their channels and selling stuff with YouTube ads. Some YouTube consultants do one or the other – growth or paid ads. I’ve always done both. Lately, VidAction is centered around paid YouTube ads.
I’ve focused on YouTube Ads lately because for many entrepreneurs, they just don’t have the time to wait for their YouTube channels to grow over time, but they do have budget to try to get more attention and sales faster. So it’s a trade off of deciding whether you want to invest time or money, they both have the same goal in mind.
We help startups and businesses between 1-100 people.
Here’s where a lot of people will tell you they have the answer to your marketing problem, whatever it is. But I will tell you I don’t have the answer (yet). I don’t have it yet because I need to interview you and find out more about what your goals are and what your startup or business is all about.
Do we have methods, practices, SOPs? Yes. But they need to be customized to you. And sometimes the changes would be small, and sometimes they would be large.
For instance, we’ve run ads for products and services as varied as B2B software, Fintech, real estate, casinos, and children’s clothing. Was our approach similar for each of these? Did we run ads to the same audiences, at the same times of day, with the same interests? No, we did not.
But most core principles and methods remain the same.
And I will tell you that I make mistakes and I don’t always get everything right. Or, sometimes I do get things right, and then the platform changes, or the market changes, and what was right is now wrong. So we plan, investigate and iterate.
And we experiment. Because even methods we’ve tried that have not worked, may work in the future – the method just was too early.
But overall, people who work with me and people I work with are very pleased with the results because they know I’m giving them my best. And they generally value my ability to learn and adapt.

I’m based in Portland Oregon but have had clients and partners on several continents. I generally prefer working with people in North America because the time zone is easier.
And I think the YouTube algorithm and how it interacts with the YouTube Ads algorithm. They reveal so much more data than the other platforms, so it’s both fun to dive into, but can be a bit daunting for the beginner. So I see a lot of what I do as trying to packages the results into better bite size stuff.
And sometimes certain numbers can be deceptive, or not fully revealing. Particularly views and subs – they mean very little without more context. YouTubes shorts data is also not very helpful unless you know what they mean.
So my promise to you is that I use all my experience, to do my best, whether it’s providing you with a consulting call or helping your overall video marketing strategy with YouTube ads.
Have I managed YouTube Ads or a YouTube channel in your exact niche before? Well, there are many niches, so, probably not! If you have an expert in your niche, maybe try them out first.
