Don’t run YouTube Ads if…

We don’t recommend YouTube ads for you if you’re one of these types of folks:

  1. You’re a creator who ONLY wants views and subs.
That’s the wrong use for YouTube Ads. Yes, YouTube Ads can help with views and subs, but that shouldn’t be your primary goal with YouTube Ads.
  2. You’re using the YouTube “Promotions” Tab.
The Promotions Tab is an imprecise use of YouTube Ads. It can get you views and subs, but since they seldom come back to watch a second video, this actually hurts your channel in the algorithm.
  3. You’re a YouTube Premium subscriber
YouTube Premium subscribers don’t watch YouTube Ads. But if you don’t watch YouTube Ads, you don’t understand YouTube Ads, and shouldn’t buy YouTube Ads.
  4. You never watch YouTube.
If you don’t watch YouTube, it’s hard for you to judge the value of it, and what works or what doesn’t.
  5. You don’t know what your goal is.
If you don’t know where you’re going, you can’t start getting there.
  6. You have an unclear or poorly-functioning website.
If people can’t figure out what you’re selling, they can’t buy it. If the website doesn’t work right, people can’t buy or connect properly.
  7. You don’t have enough inventory.
Why run ads if you don’t have enough stuff to sell?
  8. You’re not good at math.
To understand the quality of YouTube campaigns, you need to have a basic understanding of math, particularly comparing percentages. This is do-able for most people, but not everyone is a good fit for YouTube Ads.
  9. You’re not getting all the data.
If your ad buyer isn’t giving you complete data, you can’t make good analysis.
  10. You don’t have time.
Ideally your ad buyer can take a lot of the work off your hands, but you should be able to spend a few hours every week on whether your YouTube Ads strategy is working or not.
  11. You don’t need growth.
If you’re happy with the size of your business, why advertise?
  12. You need results too fast.
Success with YouTube Ads takes time. Hopefully not a ton of time, but you can’t have long-term success overnight.

… but we do help these kinds of businesses.
